Many computers get the dreaded SVCHOST error at some time in their lives. This is an error which is incredibly difficult to fix, but there is a way, thanks to a part of your system which hardly anyone knows about.
According to Microsoft: "svchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that run from dynamic-link libraries". In plain English, this basically means that Windows needs to use svchost.exe to open what are known as .dll files. These files tell programs how to do different things, and can be used by multiple programs (hence why they are stored in the Windows folder. This means that whenever you use a program which needs to call a .dll file, Windows has to use the SVCHOST.EXE application to read it.
You can have 6-12 different SVCHOST.EXE applications running on your system at any time, and any one of them can cause an error. The problem is that because the SVCHOST programs are constantly trying to read .dll files from your Windows folder, they are forever relying on those files to be readable and healthy. Unfortunately, .dll files are famous for being very easy to corrupt and damage. Since they are used by many different programs, these files are easily corrupted, making them difficult for svchost to read, slowing down your system and causing errors.
The svchost error is caused by a .dll file becoming corrupt and totally unreadable, meaning that the svchost application cannot read it. This is a very common problem but there are hardly any common answers, because the svchost errors are caused by files which we don't know about. To fix this problem, you just need to be able to fix all the .dll files that might be causing your computer difficulty… and the best way to do this is to go through them all and replace them with fresh ones.
This is extremely difficult to do by hand, but luckily, there's a tool which you can use to do it for you. There's a part of your system where these .dll files are all listed, called the 'registry'. This is a big database which stores all sorts of settings and information about your PC. There are tools which you can get (called registry cleaners), that actually scan through all the .dll file locations inside the registry, and fix all the ones they find are broken. There are many different registry cleaners out there, but we found one called "RegAce" works very well to stop almost all your SVCHOST errors completely. This cleaner specifically searches "shared DLL files", allowing it to clean them all up for you, fixing the dreaded svchost error.
You can use a registry cleaner to fix the svchost.exe error. We’ve found one particular tool, called RegAce does this the best.
